11b - Zugzwang's Tower Guide No.1 "The Green Run"

For Hunters with the Title of Lord/Lady or above...
Last Updated: 10.09.2011 - Typo on Step 7 corrected.

The "Green" Run
Following feedback received, I have split the ZT section into sub-sections.  The Green run has been developed for new hunters in Zugzwang's Tower and should be used until you have collected enough loot to craft either or both the Obvious Ambush trap and the Blackstone Pass trap.

Zugzwang's Tower Tips
  • Note: Zugzwang’s Tower is based around the game of chess and like the game there are two teams of mice; Mystic and Technic. Once you enter Zugzwang’s Tower you will notice that each team has a separate progress bar which appears in a ‘head’s up display’ under the Tower Amplifier.  Initially you will only be able to attract the two types Pawn mice. Once you catch 8 Pawns from one team, you will start to attract Knights of that team (in addition to both types of Pawn mice). Once you capture the Knights of one team you will attract more Knights and Pawns of that team than the other team.  You need to catch two Knights (from the same side) before you can attract Bishops; then two Bishops before you can attract the Rooks; then two Rooks to attract Queens; then one Queen to attract the King
  • To hunt in Zugzwang’s Tower you need to decide which bait you want to use; Gouda cheese or SUPERbrie+ cheese as this will affect your trap set-up.
  • Do you want to use Gouda cheese? If Yes then carry on, if No, then replace all references in the following steps to Gouda cheese with SUPERbrie+ cheese and replace all references to the Wooden Base with Target with Wooden base.
  1. Change your trap set-up to either Mystic Pawn Pincher trap (if you want to do a Mystic mice run), or Technic Pawn Pincher trap (if you want to do at Technic mice run). Both should have the Wooden Base with Target and Gouda cheese as bait and hunt.
  2. Once you have 8 Pawn mice of one variety then switch your trap setup to the other one described in Step 1 and hunt until you have 8 of both types of Pawn mice.
  3. Change your trap set-up to Zugzwang’s First Move trap with your highest power base and Gouda cheese and hunt until Queen mice start to appear then go to Step 6. [Tip: If your Tower Amplifier is getting low then change your set-up to Tactical trap with a high luck base].
  4. Have you caught a Queen mouse? If Not, then carry on hunting. If Yes, then go to step 5.
  5. Change your trap set-up to use the Pawn Pincher trap (corresponding to the type of Queen mouse you have caught) together with the Wooden Base with Target and Gouda cheese. [Tip. Check you trap effectiveness [Hyperlink ] against the various Mice. Your objective is for the King to be ‘Yellow’ and all other mice as ‘Red’].
  6. Have you caught a King? If Yes, then congratulations. Either way go to step 7.
  7. After re-charching your tower amplifier, repeat steps 1 to 6 (adjusting your setup to Technic or Mystic depending upon your objective) until you have collected enough loot to craft either or both the Obvious Ambush trap and the Blackstone Pass trap.  These loot items are dropped by the King mice as follows: Technic King mouse (Droid Jetpack x1; Torn Technic page x3; and  enough Technic Cheese moulds to keep up your supply of Checkmate cheese); Mystic King mouse (Mystic Crystal x 1; Torn Mystic Page x 3; and enough Mystic Curds to keep up your supply of Checkmate cheese); and the Chess Master mouse (Master Bindings x1)
  8. Once you have these items together with 58,000,000 points and at least 2,200,000 gold then buy the blueprints for the Obvious Ambush Trap and the Blackstone Pass Trap and craft the two traps [Formula] in the Seasonal Garden store. [Note: you do not have to wait until you have all the crafting items for both traps; you can do them individually as you go if you have gained the requisite points.
  9. As soon as you have collected the requisite loot then craft the Spellbook base.
  10. Go to Part 11c - Lords and Ladies: ZT "The Amber Run".
Note: An alternative strategy for more passive hunters is to use the trap set-up described in Step 3 for Steps 1 and 2.  This saves you the cost of buying the Pincher traps but it depletes your amplifier more quickly.
